E85 Performance

Switching to E85 is a great way to get some more power out of any engine with boost. This is something that has been thoroughly documented everywhere on the internet. Seriously, there's so much information out there that it's not even worth going into detail about it here.

Forced Induction

The three most common methods of forced induction are:

	* Supercharging
	* turbocharging
	* Nitrous Oxide

Turbocharging vs the M90 Supercharger

Consider that a stock L67 with an M90 produces 240 horsepower at the crank at 8 psi.
A turbocharged L67 without an M90 will produce 300 horsepower at the crank at 8 psi and can consistently reproduce that without as much heatsoak.

Injectors

The stock injectors on a 3800 really are not that great for higher horsepower builds. There is a little bit of headroom with the L67 injectors, but once you start using a turbo or a small supercharger pulley you will start to exceed the capabilities of the stock injectors.

With the factory PCM options are a bit limited in what can be done for ignition system improvements. Switching to an aftermarket ECU opens up the doors to almost anything you could ever want to do, but this page is just about what can be done using the factory PCM.

Supercharger Options

Factory Superchargers

The 3800 came equipped with two different superchargers from the factory. Each supercharger had a few changes over the years to make improvements.

At a high level the series 1 3800 was equipped with the smaller Eaton M62:

Turbocharging

Turbocharging is arguably the best bang for your buck in power output for any engine and 3800's are no exception.

Some of the biggest benefits to turbocharging are:

	* Nearly negligible power necessary to drive the turbocharger
	* More efficient than most superchargers
