Muncie 4 speed (Fiero)

General Info

Not to be confused with the RWD Muncie 4 speed, the transverse Muncie is quite a bit different and not nearly as strong.

Early Fiero's could be optioned with a 4 speed manual transmission. This is the Muncie 4 speed.

Strength

This transmission could be found in cars with 4 cylinder engines as well as v6's. The v6 version has a slightly stronger case than the 4 cylinder version.

Your results may vary but there are a few people who have had pretty good luck with this transmission with power levels of around 300 wheel horsepower. Typically the biggest issues are either the case breaking, 3rd gear getting stripped, or a twisted differential.

How to make it work

The bellhousing will bolt right up to the 3800, but you will need a flywheel from a manual f-body 3800 and a clutch to send power through it.
